Schaub & Srote Architects provides full-service architectural expertise and interior design in both residential and commercial markets. The firm's residential segment is specialized in the design of luxury homes and estate properties, while the commercial segment specializes in project master planning, programming and architectural design.

The firm's history dates back to 1992 when David Schaub founded Schaub Design Group, Inc. Originally located in the basement of an engineer's office in a St. Louis, Missouri suburb, Mr. Schaub provided architectural services to his clients for projects of any size and type. By approaching all of his projects with the same professionalism, care, and attention to detail, his client list grew exponentially.

As the firm's workload grew so did the size of the company. Having outgrown their office space, the firm relocated to Kirkwood, Missouri. Through hard work, award-winning designs, and a growing following of satisfied clients and their referrals Schaub Design Group, Inc. became a major player in St. Louis residential architecture. By the mid-1990's the firm began expanding outside of the St. Louis area.

After several successful projects in Lake Ozark, MO, Springfield, MO. and in other states such as Colorado, Washington, and Florida it was clear that Schaub Design Group, Inc.'s expansion into new markets was a success.

In 2007 the firm's office and studio was suddenly destroyed by fire. Shortly thereafter, the economy spiraled into the Great Recession causing the housing industry to collapse and the practice of residential architecture to slow dramatically around the country.

Forced to down size and put the rebuilding of the firm's office on hold, Mr. Schaub worked hard to obtain project commissions and continue providing the excellent service upon which his reputation was built.

In 2008, through a mutual friend, Mr. Schaub met Robert Srote. At that time Mr. Srote had just started his own firm, Residential Masterworks, after working for many years at another prominent St. Louis area residential architectural firm. His firm's focus was on high-end residential projects providing services from programming and design through construction. They each shared the same passion for architecture and commitment to making their clients' vision become a reality. The two future business partners quickly became friends.

In 2012 the two merged their firms and Schaub+Srote Architects was formed. This new firm would continue its focus on remaining a full service architectural firm believing that a successful project is not only artistic and beautiful but also functional, comfortable, and sustainable. They strongly believe that every project must be within the client's stated construction budget and designed to keep operating costs down throughout the building's life-cycle.

In 2015 after finding success in many commercial projects, Schaub & Srote acquired John Lark & Associates, an accomplished architectural firm specializing in commercial planning and design to enhance their expertise and diversify the practice.

Schaub+Srote Architects believe that listening to the client's needs and goals for their project, analyzing and researching the site and building systems, then creating and implementing a well-informed design solution is the key to meeting, and often exceeding, client expectations.

Since establishing, Schaub & Srote has created award-winning master planned communities and model homes, speculation homes, additions and renovations; along with notable multi-family projects and townhouses. The firm's commercial portfolio includes more than thirty Shop 'n Save Supermarkets, numerous retail shopping centers, restaurants, office buildings, tenant finish and other specialty projects. Schaub & Srote continues to raise the benchmark while achieving national recognition and receiving numerous awards from institutions such as: Houzz.com, International Builder's Show, AGC of America, St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles, At Home Architect & Designer Awards.

Headquartered in St. Louis, MO, the firm is currently licensed in AZ, CO, IL, IN, KY, MI, MO, MS, NC, OH, TN, TX, and WI.
